California shutters are traditionally made from materials such as vinyl and wood. Vinyl tends to be quite a cheap material, and doesn’t tend to last as well as other alternatives. Wood is, like any wooden product, more susceptible to moisture, temperature and humidity changes in your home and can warp over time. Wood shutters also tend to be quite expensive – they look nice, but don’t offer great value for your money.
We use a material called PolyTek, which although man made is 100% recyclable (vinyl is not) and eco-friendly. Our PolyTek shutters are built over extruded aluminum so they are very strong and never warp or sag like wood and vinyl can. The price of our shutters is not much more than cheap vinyl, and less expensive than wood or ‘premium’ vinyl – for better quality and longer life.
