California shutters are traditionally made from materials such as vinyl and wood. Vinyl tends to be quite a cheap material, and doesn’t tend to last as well as other alternatives. Wood is, like any wooden product, more susceptible to moisture, temperature and humidity changes in your home and can warp over time. Wood shutters also tend to be quite expensive – they look nice, but don’t offer great value for your money.
We use a material called PolyTek, which although man made is 100% recyclable (vinyl is not) and eco-friendly. Our PolyTek shutters are built over extruded aluminum so they are very strong and never warp or sag like wood and vinyl can. The price of our shutters is not much more than cheap vinyl, and less expensive than wood or ‘premium’ vinyl – for better quality and longer life.
There are lots of shutter suppliers and dealers in Brampton that sell California shutters – there are a few who actually make their own custom shutters right here in the Toronto area. GTA Shutters is one of those few – choosing our shutters means you are buying factory direct.
Most shutter suppliers sell vinyl or wood California shutters – these tend to be lower quality materials that do not last as long as our PolyTek shutters. Our shutters will also never warp, crack, chip or fade like other materials such as vinyl or wood. If you’re trying to find the best place to buy California Shutters in Brampton – you should talk to us first. 🙂
There are lots of shutter suppliers and dealers in Mississauga that sell California shutters – there are a few who actually make their own custom shutters right here in the Toronto area. GTA Shutters is one of those few – choosing our shutters means you are buying factory direct.

California shutters are very easy to clean – much easier and quicker than drapes, blinds or shades. With any shutters you can just use a normal surface cleaner for any stubborn marks or stains. For normal periodic dusting, just use a dry or damp cleaning cloth or wipe.
With wooden shutters, you should stick to using a dry cloth, or if you do use a damp cloth try not to leave any excess moisture on the wood that could cause the wood to swell or warp.
There are a lot of variables involved, not least the material used in making the shutters, but here’s a good rule-of-thumb guide to pricing:
Budget vinyl shutters – $14-$18 per square foot
Wooden shutters – $30-$40+ per square foot
‘Premium’ vinyl shutters – $30-$40 per square foot
PolyTek (the material we use for our shutters, which is actually better quality and much more durable than premium vinyl or wood) – $22-$30 per square foot.
Note there is sometimes extra cost involved depending on the type and size of existing window frames and trim. Get in touch with us and we can give you a more precise free quote with no obligation.

Yes, for sure – they never really go ‘out’ of style as their design is rather timeless and clean. Our are especially clean looking as they don’t have an exposed tilt bar on them. Good quality shutters are basically a once in a lifetime purchase that are neutral in colour and style – there’s really nothing to go out of style compared to things like patterned or coloured blinds, drapes or shades.
We can fit shutters to almost any common style of house, condo or office window, including Bay windows, French doors, Patio doors, Sliding doors and custom arches. Note that framing is required for windows with less than 2 inch trim depth – this will be included in the quote given at the time of measuring your windows if needed.
Our shutters are super easy to clean – unlike blinds or curtains, you can simply wipe your shutters blades with a damp cloth or napkin occasionally to keep them clean. No other maintenance is required. Shutters = easy life!
California shutters offer you ultimate control over the light that comes into your room, compared to curtains, shades or blinds. Your bedroom will be properly dark at night so you sleep well, and during the day you can keep almost all sunlight out meaning your house is cooler and you spend less on air conditioning!
